Green Open Homes Online: Retrofitting a 1950's cavity walled home
Looking for ideas to make your home more energy efficient, cheaper to run and nicer to live in? Green Herefordshire homes are throwing open their doors in the online world to show you the changes they've made, how they did it and the differences it has made to their lives.
Leylines is a detached house built in the fifties on a solid concrete slab with cavity walls and extended in the sixties. Previous owners had improved the performance of the building fabric with cavity fill, loft insulation and double glazing, but we wanted to bring it to a far higher standard of insulation and airtightness as well as reducing dependence on fossil fuels with an air source heat pump, solar panels and battery.
The retrofit and refurbishment has taken about nine months and not been cheap, but has resulted in a house which should be warm, comfortable and very economical to heat
Join this webinar to learn from Claire what they did and why, who did the work and the lessons learnt along the way.
There will be plenty of time for you to ask any questions you have at the end.
