Date: Monday 5 June 2023 Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Venue: Whitton Community Hall Cost: See details Organiser: White Oak Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art, where we train in a non-competitive and non-aggressive environment. If you're searching for martial arts in Knighton Powys or the surrounding areas, Whitton Aikido could be what you're looking for.

We welcome beginners and we offer a free taster class, so you can see if Aikido is for you.  Weekly classes for over 18s take place in Whitton Community Hall, Whitton, Knighton on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.

You don’t have to be fit to get started or to have trained before. We focus on maximising the power, effectiveness, and efficiency of the body and movement, working with individual exercises and using a range of techniques for evading attacks and throwing or immobilising an attacker, whilst improving coordination, balance, flexibility, fitness, posture and physical resilience. We also work with Aikido weapons.

The two Aikido teachers have over 70 years' experience between them. Highly relevant in today's high-stress, confrontational world, Aikido helps you to get fitter and improve your relaxation, co-ordination, flexibility and reaction speed. It helps develop a deep understanding of how your body works.

Cost:  The first class is free. Then annual membership is £30 (waged) or £15 (unwaged). After your free taster class, you can pay per session at £7.00 per two-hour session or pay £20 a month and attend all weekly sessions in the month. When you're ready and before your first grading, you'll need a training uniform. These cost around £25.
