Tax Help for Older People

Who we are
Tax Help for Older People is a service from the registered charity Tax Volunteers providing free, independent and expert help and advice for older people on lower incomes who cannot afford to pay for professional tax advice. With over 450 volunteers and a national helpline, it doesn't matter where you live.
Who do we help?
We provide free professional tax advice for older people (approaching 60 or older) on lower annual incomes (roughly less than £20,000). If you are caring for an eligible older person you may also request help on their behalf. You do not need power of attorney to do this.
What we do
We provide a caring and friendly help and advice service on personal tax issues through our own expert advisers that is jargon-free, independent, confidential and individual to your needs. Our helpline team is fully trained in the field of older people's tax and we will try to resolve your query however complex. If your tax query is a simple one we can probably deal with it on the phone or by post and email. If it is more complex, or if you would prefer, we can arrange for a face-to-face meeting with a local volunteer tax adviser. Face to face appointments are by arrangement and generally held at your local Age UK/Concern, Citizens Advice Bureau or other community organisation. However, where the need arises we also offer home visits.
