Exercise from the chair

Limited mobility doesn't mean you can't exercise! Come and join Dee and make exercise part of your life.

Join our fun session, set to music. The exercise session takes between 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the participant's abilities and needs. I can adapt the session accordingly. They're fun, we laugh and chat a lot, but above all they are beneficial in strenthening and mobilising the body, which in turn helps to prevent trips and falls.

What happens during our exercise session?

We start with a warm up to prepare the body, then progress to a cardiovascular section which exercises the heart and lungs, followed by a strengthening section using resistance bands and balls which also helps with hand/eye co-ordination and reaction times and to use the right and left hemisphere of the brain.

We finish the session with a cool down, which returns the body, heart and breathing back to its normal, resting state.

I have now incorporated a 10 minute relaxation and meditation section at the end, which participants really like, done to the sound of the sea crashing into the shoreline.

I stress to individuals that there is no pressure, they can do the session at their own pace. They can also do some or all the exercises standing.

Where and when?

The sessions take place at St Michaels Centre in Abergavenny on Mondays at 3pm.
