Taurus Healthcare is the GP Federation for Herefordshire and was set up by all the GP practices to help co-ordinate services and deliver activities as a collective. 

We want to support and empower patients and communities to live independent, healthy, fulfilled lives.

We believe that we can best support the people of Herefordshire to live healthy and satisfying lives by providing joined up, 24/7 General Practice.

We have three key objectives:

1. To support practices to be safe, effective, efficient and resilient. 

The support provided will vary dependent on the needs of each surgery, but typically includes back office services such as Recruitment, Finance and Human Resources and Primary Care Network (PCN) management functions.

2. To deliver clinical services on behalf of GP practices that improve provision across the county

For example, Taurus operates the county’s Improved Access and GP Out of Hours Service as well as social prescribing and night-time nursing services.

3. To provide strategic leadership and representation for Herefordshire’s GP Practices

For example, by representing Herefordshire GPs at a range of important meetings and consultations, Taurus ensures that their collective voice is heard.

We always aim to work with partner organisations to provide coordinated prevention and early intervention and to provide expert advice or support, when required, as close to home and as ‘joined up’ as possible.
