Canary are based in Oxfordshire and we provide 'smart home monitoring systems'. Our solution monitors your loved ones activity in their home which allows them to stay at home for longer, as independently as they can (or with just the right amount of care supporting them).
The system has also been proven to help keep people out of hospital, helped to ensure that care packages are at just the right level for them, and has helped families put off the difficult decision to use full time residential care for that little bit longer.
We work with individuals and families, Councils, NHS Trusts and CCG’s (who are trying to tackle issues with delayed transfers of care and to provide care for people needing Continuing Health Care and personal budgets in the most cost effective way). We also work with private care providers too (who are trying to evidence good quality care and look for new ways of working).
The system alerts you to key events that are happening (or not), based on a set of rules which you have control over. It allows you and your care network to intervene earlier than they would if no system was being used at all. This means that you can rest assured that you know when your loved one needs help.
We use no microphones, no video and you don't need an internet connection - your loved ones dignity and privacy is maintained at all times. Unlike other systems the user doesn't have to press anything to make the system work. It just quetly sits in the background monitoring movement and lets you know things like:
- when someone has been in the bathroom for too long
- that they didn't reach the top of the stairs
- that the front door has been opened at 2am
- and that your loved one has been in their medicine cupboard today
We have an online portal which you can log into on any internet enabled device and once your details have been entered into our calling circle you will be able to pick up alerts to your phone and by email. We also have an IOS and Android app, so you can receive messages via push notification too!
Many users and their families use Canary just to give them peace of mind when they're working all day, or if family members live a distance away and its not always practical to visit that often. Whichever way you use Canary you will be better informed and able to respond quicker than having to rely on more traditional methods of communication.
