Empowered Youth
The aim of Empowered Youth is to give children and young people the confidence in their own health and wellbeing. We provide support, guidance and preparation for medical procedures, appointments and treatment. We support children with long or short health conditions to help them understand their diagnosis through play. We also teach coping strategies if struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety. We also work with children that have experienced a health care trauma that may need support working through theses worries - this can also include if they have a family member or friend that has a health condition they are struggling to understand. Bereavement play support is also offered.
We use a variety of therapeutic play tools to help children feel comfortable to share worries and concerns and then together work through these issues. We cannot promise that things will immediately improve, often it will take time to build a positive trusting relationship with a child or young person however we aim to ensure we provide a comfortable space that will allow them time to process and work through issues at their own time.
