Help with utility bills
If you or someone you know needs help with energy bills or managing fuel debt, there is currently funding available to support Herefordshire households.
Household Support Fund
You may need to be referred by a qualifying agency to get help from the Household Support Fund, but if you contact the organisation directly, they’ll be able to advise on the process. If you need help or you can’t find what you’re looking for here, please email householdsupportfund@herefordshire.gov.uk
Herefordshire Community Foundation
Can offer financial support for fuel bills. Applications are made via trusted support agencies. Furthermore, we require utility account details, name and address of the beneficiary before payment can be made.

Keep Herefordshire Warm – Yes Energy Solutions
Keep Herefordshire Warm can provide grants to support your energy needs, this includes payments towards fuel debt, energy bills, oil/gas bottles/tanks and top up for prepayment meters. They can also support with boiler services, repairs, installations and supply Heat the Person packs to support people living in cold homes. This service is delivered by Yes Energy Solutions.

The Living Room, Hereford [Ethos] – energy and water support
Ethos can help support those who live in Hereford city and surrounding areas and are struggling with energy and water bills. They can also support with emergency costs and budgeting advice. Ethos accepts self-referrals and referrals from agencies.

Marches Energy Agency
Marches Energy can provide home visits conducted by trained energy advisor. This service can include support with grant application forms, assistance with billing/supplier issues, advice based on health needs, bespoke advice, and energy efficiency packs that include draught proofing, radiator foils, LED lighting, CO monitors, cold alarms and power down devices. Marches Energy Agency accept self referral and agency referrals.

Severn Wye Energy
Severn Wye Energy can support households across Herefordshire who are struggling to meet their energy costs. The support on offer is flexible and includes supplying fuel vouchers to households with prepayment meters, direct payments to energy suppliers for households in fuel debt, or without prepayment meters, energy payment cards and support to purchase solid fuel/oil.

Support to help you manage payments
Supplier support schemes
Many utility companies offer a support scheme if you’re on a low income and struggling with energy costs. If you are not sure who to contact, the Ofgem website has a useful page to help.
Manage deductions from your benefits to pay debts and bills
If you’re in receipt of benefits, you can arrange for some of your bills, such as rent or water, to be paid directly out of your benefits payment. Take a look at the Government’s website for more details.
