Funding approved for local organisations to support residents through cost of living pressures

26 June 2026

Herefordshire Council has approved funding of up to £169,111 through the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) to support local organisations delivering vital help to residents facing financial hardship.

The funding will be provided to a range of voluntary and community sector organisations, namely Age UK Wyvern, Hereford Foodbank, Ledbury Foodbank, Leominster Foodbank, Bromyard Foodbank and Money Advice Centre and Ethos (Leominster & City).

These organisations will provide emergency support such as food parcels, e vouchers and practical help alongside advice on budgeting, debt and managing household finances.

The funding is designed to support residents experiencing a crisis, including those affected by sudden loss of income, increased debt or difficulty meeting essential living costs. It also forms part of a wider approach to help people build financial resilience and prevent future hardship.

The decision reflects the continued impact of cost of living pressures on low-income households and the important role of local organisations in providing accessible, community-based support across Herefordshire.

This money comes from Herefordshire Council’s CRF allocation of £2.3 million from the Department for Work and Pensions for the 2026/27 financial year to deliver support to residents most in need.

Cllr Carole Gandy, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said: “We know that many residents continue to face real financial pressures, and this funding will help ensure that support is available when people need it most. By working with trusted local organisations, we can provide immediate help in times of crisis while also supporting people to build resilience and manage their finances more confidently in the longer term.”
