The State of the Sector 2024

15 January 2025

The State of the Sector 2024 is a follow-up from the original research undertaken in 2021 which  explored and celebrated the the incredible contribution made by over 2,000 Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) across Herefordshire.

Both phases of the research were commissioned by Herefordshire Council, in partnership with hvoss.

For the 'State of the Sector 2024' report, research was undertaken to

  • explore how the sector has changed since 2021
  • provide insight into the size and scope of the VCSE sector
  • demonstrate the contribution the sector makes socially and economically
  • highlight how the sector is supported and works with others
  • identify the key issues facing the sector locally
  • support VCSE's to demonstrate their impact and value
  • increase understanding and awareness of the vital contribution that VCSE organisations make to all areas of life in Herefordshire
